Pearl Elisa Nasont was born May 18, 2020. Pearl was born during the height of COVID. With empty hospital corridors and overly cautious nurses, Pearl made her entrance in the early morning to two tired but ecstatic parents. Just after Pearl turned two, her parents discovered a small lump in her belly. After meeting with her doctor, they were referred to Stanford Children's Radiology for an ultrasound. This would be the beginning of Pearl's journey. It would be just one week later for the family to learn that Pearl had Stage Four Hepatoblastoma (cancer of the liver). Pearl began chemotherapy treatment in June 2022. In November 2024, after fighting over two years with countless rounds of chemotherapy, radiation, and several surgeries, the family was told there was "nothing else the doctors could do". Pearl passed away on December 23, 2024 after a ferocious fight to the very end.
FLAP is our family's saying "Fight Like a Pearl", because in Pearl's true fashion, she was always fighting. She fought with everything she could to beat this disease. She lived every day with a fighting spirit and loved life to the fullest.
Our hope through Pearl's legacy is to bring HOPE, JOY, and a little FIGHTING spirit to other children fighting cancer. While we are just starting out, we are looking to the future to help children in two ways:
- Financial: raising funds to help families pay for food and other needs while admitted to the hospital.
- Fun: Raising funds to provide children in the hospital with toys, books, crafts, and other fun items to raise their spirits.
Above all, our goal is to keep Pearl's legacy and memory alive.

Pearl Elisa Nasont passed away on December 23, 2024 after a fierce battle with cancer. She is Forever Four and a shining light to everyone who was in her life. She is survived by her loving parents, Adam and Bethany Nasont, sisters, Daisy and Charity Nasont and her many family members and close friends. A Bell Ringing Ceremony and Celebration of Life will occur on March 1, 2025 at San Carlos Beach in Monterey followed by a reception at Scholze Park Center from 10:00 AM-3:00 PM.
